It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the sudden passing of our beloved pastor, Dwight Shaffer. Though Dwight was only with the New Brunswick Church of Christ for a short time, his presence and sermons deeply resonated with our small congregation. His passion for sharing the Word of God and his heartfelt sermons made him an integral part of our church family.
We are shocked and deeply saddened by his untimely departure. Dwight’s recent sermon series focused on God’s promise of Heaven and the assurance we have when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. It is with bittersweet emotions that we reflect on these teachings now, knowing that Dwight is where he longed to be - in the arms of his Savior. This brings both sorrow and joy to our hearts. Sorrow, because we will no longer see him in this life, and joy, because we have the hope of being reunited with him in Heaven one day.
As we navigate this difficult time, we ask for your prayers for Dwight’s wife, his family, friends, and our entire church community. The coming days, weeks, and months will be challenging, but we trust in God’s comfort and peace to sustain us.
We invite you to join us in honoring Dwight’s memory. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the New Brunswick Church of Christ. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm, officiated by Pastors Tom Peters and Tom Mullins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the New Brunswick Church of Christ, 6480 IN-39, Lebanon, IN 46052. Baker Funeral Home in Danville is handling the arrangements.
Thank you for your support and prayers during this time. Dwight’s legacy will continue to inspire and guide us, and his memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
With deepest sympathy,
The New Brunswick Church of Christ Family
